NIGERIA STRIKER URGES URGES WATFORD TO MOVE FOR CHELSEA MIDFIELDER
Mikel’s Chelsea contract expires next summer but the Nigeria midfielder could leave Stamford Bridge in January for a small fee
Watford striker Odion Ighalo has urged his club to make a move for John Obi Mikel.
Mikel’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season, but the Nigeria midfielder could leave Stamford Bridge in January for a small fee, according to reports from England.
Marseille and Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, managed by Mikel’s ex-Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas are also understood to be interested in the player, who has been at Stamford since 2004.
Ighalo, though, would love to see his international teammate move to Vicarage Road.
He said: “I would like it if Mikel joined me at Watford.
“He is my captain at the national team. Apart from that he is a very good player, very talented.
“There is no team in the Premier League that will not want to have such a player.
“I am happy I have played with him so I will be very happy to have him in my team.”
