Nigerian players abroad: Ekong, Balogun make debuts

In the Seriè A, Super Eagles World Cup star, William Troost-Ekong, made his Udinese debut — barely three days after signing for Zebrette — as the Udine club settled for a 2-2 draw at Parma.

Ekong played the entirety of the game.

At the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, Orji Okonkwo was an unused substitute in Bologna’s 1-0 loss to Spal.

Nigeria international Leon Balogun starred in Brighton’s 3-2 win over Manchester United.

The defender replaced Lewis Dunk, who was forced off the pitch through injury.

Balogun made the most of the opportunity — impressing Albion’s faithful and helping the club record one of their most famous wins.

It was his first competitive game for the Seagulls since joining from German club Mainz in June.

Samuel Kalu kicked off his Bordeaux career with a 2-1 loss at Toulouse.

The winger — a €15m buy from KAA Gent — was on the pitch from start to finish.

Henry Onyekuru opened his Galatasaray account with the only goal in the win over Goztepe, which helped the Yellow-reds maintain their 100 percent start to the season.
