Samuel Kalu impressed in FC Girondins de Bordeaux ‘s home win over AS Monaco on Sunday.
The winger, who is part of Gernot Rohr’s squad for next month’s AFCON qualifier against Seychelles, proved a handful for the Monaco defence, and was denied by the post as well as Monaco’s goalkeeper, Diego Benaglio.
Benaglio stretched to claw the playmaker’s penalty out of his bottom right corner in the second half.
Francois Kamano scored the opener from the penalty spot after Kalu was brought down inches into the Monaco box. Substitute Pietro Pellegri equalized but four minutes from time, Bordeaux had a chance to regain their lead, only for Kalu to see his penalty saved by Benaglio.
In added time, Kamano hit the back of the net once again — firing a first-time shot into the bottom right corner — to secure the hosts all three points •
