Nigerian players in Europe: Onuachu wins MotM award as FC Midtjylland defeat Vendsyssel

Paul Onuachu has been named man of the match after scoring to help FC Midtjylland claim a 3-0 win over Emmanuel Ogude’s Vendsyssel.

The Nigerian rose above a sea of players to nod home Australia international Awer Mabil’s inswinging cross to put his side in front — and took his league tally to four for the season.

Soren Henriksen’s own goal doubled the advantage for the champions, before Onuachu’s compatriot Rilwan Hassan added the third — his first of the campaign — barely two minutes after coming on.

Hassan, 27, who only returned to action in late September after a long injury layoff, celebrated the goal with his trademark somersault.

Onuachu was on the pitch for 88 minutes. Interestingly, he was replaced by Hassan, who made the most of a four-minute play time.

Ogude was a first-half substitute for the Vendsyssel.
