Chairman of Abia Warriors FC, Pastor Emeka Inyama, on tuesday, introduced the new Head Coach, Adenrele Adewumi to the players during a training session held at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Coach Adewumi, who assisted Emmanuel Deutcsh last season, was elevated to his new position last week, following the expiration of the Camerounian’s contract.
Pastor Inyama expressed confidence that Coach Adewumi will deliver the goods, having been at the club for a long time.
The former Nigeria National League chairman called on the club’s coaches, players and officials as well as other staff to accord the new head coach the required respect in order to move the club forward.
The Ekiti-born tactician will be assisted by Adams Jonkay, who is now the Chief Coach of the club and former Enyimba star, Chidozie Ukoh, as well as Austin Chinwendu who have been designated as Assistant Coach and Coach respectively.
The new boss, who described his new assignment as a challenging one, said he would do his best to continue the club’s fine form.
Meanwhile, the club has commenced screening for players aged 16-19 years, into its ‘B’ team, on Wednesday, October 24 at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The talent recruitment exercise will be concluded on Thursday.
Abia Warriors ended the 2017-18 Nigeria Professional Football League season on the 8th spot with 34 points from 24 matches.
The Southeast club got eliminated at the group stage of the 2018 Aiteo Cup.
