Nigeria left-back Juwon Oshaniwa is training with Akwa United ahead of a possible transfer to the Uyo club, 234football report.
The 28-year-old has been without a club since parting company with Scottish club Hearts by mutual consent in June 2017.
Oshaniwa trained with the 2017 Aiteo Cup champions on Thursday, and is expected to pen a deal with the club ahead of the start of the season.
Akwa United intend to sign the defender who represented Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup to replace Gabriel Wassa, who is reportedly set to reunite with former coach Abdu Maikaba at Plateau United.
Oshaniwa, an Afcon 2013 winner, has turned up 14 times for the Super Eagles since making his debut in the 3-2 loss to Egypt in an International friendly held in Dubai on April 12, 2012.
Akwa United are also working on securing the transfer of Ndifreke Effiong from Abia Warriors.
The 20-year-old Rio🇧🇷 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist and FC Ifeanyi Ubah defender-cum-midfielder, Wilson Elu are believed to be interested in reuniting with Coach Rafael Everton in Uyo.
The duo were spotted at the Akwa United training ground on Thursday.
Rivers United midfielder, Emeka Atuloma was also spotted at the training ground.
The 26-year old central midfielder, who starred the whole 90 minutes in five out of six matches for the Home-based Super Eagles at Morocco🇲🇦 2018 CHAN in January, is training with the team.
He will replace Kelly Kester, who was released at the end of last season.
Akwa Starlets duo Paul Tom and Wisdom Fernando, who had a stint with Swedish Suprettan club IK Frej 🇸🇪, were also at the training facility.
