Nigerian players abroad: James Adeniyi on target in Gabala home loss to Qarabag

James Adeniyi netted his fifth Azerbaijan Professional Football League goal of the season in Galaba’s 3-1 loss to Europa League campaigners Qarabag.

The 25-year-old Nigerian put Gabala in front when he headed in a cornerkick on 33 minutes.

The hosts took the lead into the break, but second-half goals from Innocent Emeghara — a Swiss of Nigerian descent — Spaniard Michel and Croat Filip Ozobic condemned Roman Hryhorchuk’s men to a first defeat in four games.

Adeniyi has become a major figure at Galaba since joining the club from Albanian outfit Skenderbeu•
