The striker, who has been inactive since March, is set to pen a one-year contract with the Aba club.

In March, Slovenian side NK Olimpija Ljubljan announced they had signed Udechukwu from Katsina United on a one-year loan deal, but it was later reported the contract crashed after the forward failed a medical.

Sources have revealed that the striker is training with the seven-time Nigeria league champions, and looks set to sign for the club.

The Aba club have lost some of their top players to rivals in the last few weeks.

Captain Mfon Udoh has rejoined Akwa United, Dare Ojo has reportedly joined champions Lobi Stars, Wasiu Alalade has returned to Abia Warriors after his loan deal came to an end, Uche John is on the brink of Enugu Rangers move, while Ifeanyi Anaemena is unsettled and could be leaving for Kano Pillars.

The Peoples Elephant are also reportedly close to signing Nasarawa United forward Thomas Zenke, as well as MFM FC duo Chukwuka Onuwa and Stanley Okorom.

Zenke is seen as an ideal replacement for Mfon Udoh.
