Francis Uzoho helped Elche claim a 3-1 win at Rayo Majadahonda and record their first win in seven Laliga 2 games.
The Nigerian, who only returned to action last week after recovering from an injury, made a string of saves in the game — notably fisting away Zidane Enzo’s effort in the first half and charging off his line to deny Aitor Ruibal from a one-on-one situation.
Prior to Sunday’s trip, Elche were without a win since October 28. They had picked just three points from their last six games.
Juan Martin’s men were hoping to halt their slide towards the relegation zone, and 12 minutes after the break their hopes received a boost, thanks to Luso who turned a low cross into the wrong net.
Few minutes later, Iván Sánchez doubled the visitors’ lead, curling into the far post from inside the box.
Uzoho then denied Ruibal to preserve Elche’s two-goal cushion. But seven minutes later, the Spaniard turned in a low cross to give the hosts hopes of a comeback.
However, Sory Kaba latched on to a through ball, rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home to restore the two-goal advantage, and Elche held on to secure the win.
