Nigeria international Ikechukwu Ezenwa has joined Katsina United after passing a medical, the north-west club have announced.
The goalkeeper arrives from Enyimba, the club he joined in 2016.
At Enyimba, Ezenwa was third-choice in the goalkeeping pecking order, behind Theophilus Afelokhai and Fatau Dauda.
Despite his third-choice status at the Aba club, the 30-year-old continued to receive call-ups to the Nigeria squad.
He was in goal for Nigeria during the World Cup qualifying games against Cameroon last year and was listed in Nigeria’s 23-man squad to Russia 2018 World Cup.
Last month, following injury to first-choice Francis Uzoho, the former Sunshine Stars shot-stopper stood between the sticks for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to South Africa.
The keeper, according to sources, felt that a third-choice tag at club level would threaten his international career — and on Thursday sealed a move to Katsina United, where he has reportedly been assured of a first-choice role.
