Bendel Insurance have won promotion to Nigeria’s top flight after an 11-year absence.
The Benin side beat Shooting Stars 1-0 in their final group game to maintain their 100 per cent record and finish as leaders of the southern conference.
Insurance have not played in the elite division since 2008, but will be locking horns with the first-tier teams once again next season.
Also making a return to the elite division are Remo Stars and Gombe United, who were both demoted to the Nigeria National League (NNL) at the end of the 2016-17 season.
Remo finished in second place — behind Insurance — after goals from Idris Aloma and Victor Mbaoma secured them a 2-1 final-day victory against Delta Force and a second win of the playoffs.
Gombe United, on the other hand, earn promotion from the Northern Conference alongside Kada City. The two clubs were level on points, but City claimed top spot thanks to a superior goal difference.
Kada City will face Insurance in the playoff final on Thursday to determine the overall NNL champions.
