Chico Ofoedu scored Maccabi Tel Aviv’s only goal in the 1-1 draw at Hapoel Tel-Aviv in a Ligat Haal Tel-Aviv derby on Monday.
The 26-year old Nigerian forward poked in a loose ball from close range in the 32nd minute, to take his league tally to five in 14 appearances.
The 17-time Israeli league champions were reduced to 10-men, after Itay Shechter, who replaced the former Enugu Rangers striker in the 74th minute, was sent off six minutes later.
The host however, capitalised on the numerical disadvantage to rescue a point, as Ghanaian defender, Emmanuel Boateng placed a low shot beyond goalkeeper Pedrag Rajkovic, two minutes from time.
The draw halted the Yellow and Blue’s seven-match winning run since December 4, 2018, but the Vladimir Ivic-led side still maintain their topspot with 46 points in 18 games – sixteen more than second placed Bnei Yehuda.
