Bordeaux recorded their first win in four Ligue 1 games, thanks to goals from Samuel Kalu and Yann Karamoh.
Nigeria international Kalu showed off his poacher’s instinct, appearing out of nowhere to turn in Maxime Poundje’s cross to open the scoring in the 31st minute to, take his Ligue 1 goals tally to three for the season.
The former KAA Gent winger nearly doubled the lead before the break, when he fired a brilliant shot towards to the roof of the post. He was denied by Ludovic Butelle, who brilliantly tipped the ball over the bar.
Mateo Pavlovic then tapped in a loose ball off a cornerkick to equalize, but Karamoh struck in the second minute of stoppage time to hand Bordeaux all three points — and push them further away from the drop zone.
The 20-year-old Frenchman picked the ball from his own half, sprinted into Angers’ end of the pitch, beat his marker, created space for himself before firing beyond Benoit Costil in the Angers goal.
