South African club Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of Nigeria international Daniel Akpeyi from Chippa United.
The goalkeeper has brought the curtain down on his Chippa United career, and has put pen to paper on a 17-month contract at Chiefs.
With Itumeleng Khune lost to a season-ending injury and Virgil Vries flopping week in week out, The Amakhozi were in search of an experienced goalkeeper.
On Thursday evening, they completed the signing of Akpeyi, who has been with Chippa United since 2015.
The club announced on Twitter: “Kaizer Chiefs would like to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi from Chippa United. He has signed a contract for 1 year and 5 months.
“We welcome him to the Amakhosi Family!”
Akpeyi, 32, could make his Chiefs debut in the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates next week.
