Three Nigerians were in action as FC Midtjylland beat Aalborg 2-1 on Monday to record their 10th win in 11 Superliga home games.
Kenneth Andersen’s side went into the match with a near-perfect home record, having dropped points at the MCH Arena on only one occasion all season — in the goalless draw against Aarhus in July 2018.
Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu connected with Kian Hansen’s perfectly-weighted cross to head Midtylland into the lead just before half-time to take his league tally to 12 for the season.
Brazilian forward Evander made it 2-0 six minutes after the interval when he nodded a cornerkick into top left post.
Tom van Weert pulled one back from close range after goalkeeper Jesper Hansen had kept out an initial effort.
Onuachu was replaced in the second-half stoppage time. His compatriot, Rilwan Hassan — who was also listed in the Midtyjlland starting lineup — was on for 71 minutes. Another Nigerian, Ogochukwu Onyeka, came on in the 85th minute, and was booked barely four minutes after coming on.
