Semi Ajayi’s brace and a strike from Ryan Williams secured Rotherham their first win in nine English Championship matches, as they won 3-2 at home to Blackburn to boost their survival hopes.
The Millers, who drew all of their previous five matches and had not won a game since new year’s day, needed just 96 seconds to take the lead, with Ajayi heading Will Vaulks’ long throw into the bottom corner.
Amari’i Bell put Rovers level in the 51st minute, hooking into the net after the home team failed to clear their lines.
But Rotherham were back in front six minutes later when half-time substitute Williams got ahead of Rovers goalkeeper David Raya to poke the ball in from Michael Smith’s knockdown.
The Nigerian, who scored in the 1-1 draw at Reading last week, rose highest to thump home a header off Vaulks’ cross in the 83rd minute for his fourth league goal of the campaign and fifth in all competitions.
