Blessing Eleke netted his eighth goal of the season, as FC Luzern beat visiting St. Gallen 3-0 at the Swissporarena on Sunday.
Paschal Schürpf opened the scoring for FC Luzern at the stroke of halftime, before Christian Schneuwly added a second ten minutes into the second period.
Eleke, who was denied by the offside flag and the crossbar earlier in the game, scored Luzern’s third, with five minutes remaining on the clock.
The Flying Sports Academy product beat two St. Gallen defenders, before curling a low shot into the bottom right corner, after Daniel Lopar had fumbled Christian Schneuwly’s attempt.
The 23-year old forward was booked by the referee for taking off his shirt while celebrating his goal.
The win placed the Blue and Whites, who bundled BSC Young Boys out of the Swiss Cup quarter finals on Wednesday, on the fourth spot with 32 points from 24 games, in a 10-team Swiss Super League.
