Ezekiel Bassey has joined Iranian club, Paykan FC, from Nigeria giants, Enyimba.
The 20-year-old signed a five-month loan contract with an option of a permanent deal with Segunda B club, Barcelona B in January. But having failed to secure a permanent deal with the Spanish side at the end of his loan spell, Bassey returned to Nigeria.
The winger, a Nigeria international, was linked with a move to Turkey during the European transfer window. However, no deal could be reached – and now, he has penned a deal that would see him play in the Iranian top flight.
Ezekiel Bassey made his Super Eagles debut on November 17, 2015 – coming on as a 83rd minute substitute for Simon Moses, in the 2-0 win over Swaziland in a Russia 2018 CAF World Cup Qualifier second round, second leg fixture.
Based in Tehran, Paykan are owned by Iranian major car company, Iran Khodro. The club is named after one of the company’s oldest car brand.
Paykan FC are currently placed 7th in the 16-team Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League with eight points from six matches.
